Disclaimer for Home Euthanasia Veterinary Services

Effective date: 17 August 2026

1. Informational Purposes Only

Content published on this website is provided for general informational purposes only. Nothing on this website constitutes professional veterinary advice, opinion or recommendation about your animal.

Reading this website, using anything on it, or sending us a message does not create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship between you and Home Euthanasia Veterinary Services or Dr. Harsukhmanpreet Maan. That relationship begins only when a veterinarian has attended your pet in person and has taken responsibility for their care.

2. Consult a Licensed Veterinarian

All decisions about the health, care and wellbeing of your pet should be made in consultation with a licensed veterinarian who has examined your specific animal. Do not make decisions about your pet based only on what you read here. Animals differ, and what is true of one pet may not be true of yours.

If your pet has a regular veterinarian, please speak with them. They know your animal, they have the history, and they are the right first conversation. We would rather you had that conversation than not, even if it means you never contact us.

There are options other than euthanasia. Depending on what is happening with your pet, there may be care that helps, pain relief that changes how the days feel, a change in what daily life looks like, or more time than it appears from inside a hard week. Those possibilities are real and they deserve to be considered properly with a veterinarian who has examined your animal.

For that reason, our own first appointment with a family is properly a consultation or a quality of life appointment rather than a booking for a procedure. Dr. Maan assesses your pet in person, talks the situation through with you, and discusses the alternatives where any exist. Nothing proceeds until you have had that conversation and until you are ready. Asking us for an appointment does not commit you to anything.

3. The Quality of Life Check

The Quality of Life Check on this website is a reflection tool for families. It takes the answers you give about your own pet and reflects them back to you, so that a set of impressions carried around for weeks can be looked at in one place. Many families find that useful, and it is offered in that spirit.

It is not a clinical assessment. It does not examine your pet, it does not identify what is wrong, and its result is not a professional opinion about your animal's condition.

It is not a recommendation to proceed with euthanasia and it never says that it may be time. No veterinarian has seen your pet when you use it, and the tool speaks only about the answers you entered, not about your animal.

The result is not a decision and it is not meant to make one for you. Whatever number appears, the next step is a conversation with a veterinarian who can examine your pet, whether that is your own veterinarian or ours.

The tool is based on the HHHHHMM Quality of Life Scale developed by Dr. Alice Villalobos, and the scoring and the interpretive threshold both follow that published scale. It is included because a published, objective reference is more useful to a family than our own opinion would be.

Your answers are not collected. The tool runs entirely in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to us or stored anywhere. Our Privacy Policy sets this out in full.

6. This Practice Does Not Provide Emergency Care

This is a house call practice that visits by appointment. It is not an emergency service and it holds no emergency scope. We cannot come to you at short notice and we are not available around the clock.

If your pet is in distress or is experiencing a medical emergency, do not rely on this website and do not wait for a reply to a message. Contact your regular veterinarian immediately, or go to your nearest emergency veterinary hospital. Time-sensitive situations need someone who can attend your animal now.

Our number, (778) 683-0770, receives text messages only. We do not take voice calls and the number is not monitored around the clock, so it must never be used to seek help in an emergency. Use it to reach us about arranging a visit, and use an emergency veterinary hospital for anything urgent.

7. Registration and Regulatory Status

Dr. Harsukhmanpreet Maan is registered with the College of Veterinarians of British Columbia, and this practice is registered with the College as a mobile house call practice facility. Nothing on this website should be read as a claim of accreditation, certification, specialty status or board certification, and no such claim is made. Veterinary services are provided only within British Columbia.

8. Website Management
